Standard version

PhotoDirector’s RAW editing tools are excellent and include all the options you would find in a professional-level program. The range of supported lenses is still small, but standard general configurations such as tonal range manipulation, color and automatic lens correction profiles are available. Additional community-generated audience profiles may be downloaded but are not guaranteed to be accurate.

The mask tool for localized editing is also good, but there are no keyboard shortcuts. As with most programs, gradient masks cannot be processed with brush masks, but the Find Edges feature can dramatically speed up masking times in some cases.

Once you have finished the general RAW development tasks and move on to more complex editing tasks, PhotoDirector will tell you that you are now working with a copy of the file instead of the actual RAW image. Is PhotoDirector safe?

PhotoDirector is completely safe to use and Malwarebytes AntiMalware and Windows Defender scan both installers and installed files. The only risk to the file is that you can delete it directly from disk using the library configuration tool.

Where can I find PhotoDirector tutorials?

PhotoDirector’s Help menu has a quick link that opens the DirectorZone community area, but I don’t know why. It’s usually not a good sign when a company places irrelevant Google ads on a community site, and having only three promotional “tutorial” videos for PhotoDirector turned out to be the first red flag.

A very small link indicates that this is just a “tutorial” for version 9 and that there are other videos for earlier versions, but it’s not an easy way to know what’s going on. After some more research, I found the Cyberlink Learning Center, which has helpful and informative tutorials in an easy-to-access format. Since there are very few tutorials for this build outside of external sources, this seems like a much more useful place to send users.
