PhotoDirector: Edit Your Photos with Artificial Intelligence

CyberLink PhotoDirector is a photography editor that uses artificial intelligence in its editions. It offers excellent editing tools, although its project-based library organization system and layered editing have room for improvement. The software is aimed at the casual and enthusiast market and meets the needs of the majority of the user base very well. Today we will talk about this app and its applications in the world of photography and editing.

What is PhotoDirector?

PhotoDirector is a photo editing software from Cyberlink and is very easy and intuitive to use. It is designed with a simple interface and includes a variety of tools to help even non-experts achieve professional-level editing.

PhotoDirector Features

PhotoDirector has a number of unique features that offer interesting options for the average user. This program is available for Windows and Mac, but the screenshot is shown below. The Mac version looks identical except for some minor interface changes.

User experience

PhotoDirector’s user interface is for the most part clean and uncluttered, divided into a series of fairly standard modules for a RAW photo editor with a few additional features such as libraries, adjustments, edit, layers, create and print. The UI design has a strange solution, especially a useless blue, which separates elements from the workspace.

Library management

PhotoDirector’s library management tools are a mix of interesting and unnecessarily confusing features. All library information is managed within “projects” that act as directories, but operate independently.

For example, you might have a project for vacation photos, another for your best friend’s wedding, etc. maybe. However, if you want to manage your entire photo library, you’ll need to save your project files for that purpose. This is because the tagging or classification of a project cannot be accessed from another project.

Standard version

PhotoDirector’s RAW editing tools are excellent and include all the options you would find in a professional-level program. The range of supported lenses is still small, but standard general configurations such as tonal range manipulation, color and automatic lens correction profiles are available. Additional community-generated audience profiles may be downloaded but are not guaranteed to be accurate.

The mask tool for localized editing is also good, but there are no keyboard shortcuts. As with most programs, gradient masks cannot be processed with brush masks, but the Find Edges feature can dramatically speed up masking times in some cases.

Once you have finished the general RAW development tasks and move on to more complex editing tasks, PhotoDirector will tell you that you are now working with a copy of the file instead of the actual RAW image. The Edit tab offers a number of accessories for deleting content. I couldn’t see the portrait of the isolation instrument because I didn’t take photos of people, but all the options I used are very good. advertisement

The content removal solution was confused by the unfocused blur and failed to completely remove the rabbit from the background, and the content-based motion tool also produced the same error. But as you can see in the magic below, the Smart Patch tool was enough. Quick masks and repeated rules are not bad!

Is PhotoDirector safe?

PhotoDirector is completely safe to use and Malwarebytes AntiMalware and Windows Defender scan both installers and installed files. The only risk to the file is that you can delete it directly from disk using the library configuration tool.

It is difficult to do this accidentally, but it is risky because there is a warning window asking if you want to delete the file from the disk or just from the library. If you pay close attention, you won’t run the risk of accidentally deleting your photos.

Is PhotoDirector free?

No, but there is a 30-day free trial. But in fact, they encourage you to purchase the full version of the software so strongly that when you click on their ad for an exclusive introductory offer, instead of launching the program, they actually direct you to a website that closes the program and shows all the benefits the program has to offer.

Where can I find PhotoDirector tutorials?

PhotoDirector’s Help menu has a quick link that opens the DirectorZone community area, but I don’t know why. It’s usually not a good sign when a company places irrelevant Google ads on a community site, and having only three promotional “tutorial” videos for PhotoDirector turned out to be the first red flag.

A very small link indicates that this is just a “tutorial” for version 9 and that there are other videos for earlier versions, but it’s not an easy way to know what’s going on. After some more research, I found the Cyberlink Learning Center, which has helpful and informative tutorials in an easy-to-access format. Since there are very few tutorials for this build outside of external sources, this seems like a much more useful place to send users.
